This is not something that happens very often. UFC fighter Conor McGregor went head-to-head with The Mountain from ‘Game of Thrones’ and posted a video to prove that he lived to tell the tale. Click to WATCH!
Conor McGregor, 27, is currently at the top of the ranks in the UFC featherweight division, but going against The Mountain (a.k.a. Gregor Clegane) from Game of Thrones, or at least the actor who plays him, is no easy feat. Conor is training to fight Jose Aldo and decided to go toe-to-toe with the Game of Thrones beast to practice!
Conor and The Mountain — okay, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson — go at it on the mat for a little practice. Hafþór, also known as “Thor,” is an Icelandic professional strongman competitor, so he knows how to fight. He came in sixth overall in the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2011.
Conor gets himself into a few pinches, but he manages to hold his own with Hafþór. Thankfully, Conor avoided getting his head crushed in by Hafþór. The Viper walked away this time. According to the person who posted the video of the fight, Hafþór is 6 feet, 9 inches and 400 pounds. WHOA.
Unfortunately, Prince Oberyn didn’t live to see another day like Conor after that epic season three episode. When the Viper and The Mountain fought, Prince Oberyn got absolutely destroyed in a bloody fight we will never forget.
Conor is currently the #1 contender in the UFC featherweight division. The Irish fighter is set to fight Jose Aldo at UFC 194 on Dec. 12. Conor is currently 18-2, while Jose is 25-1. Conor has only lost to Joseph Duffy and Artemij Sitenkov.
