Nicki Minaj just got even bigger — she’ll be starring and executive producing a series on ABC Family, based on her life.
ABC Family announced the huge news on Sept. 29 — a comedy based on Nicki Minaj‘s upbringing, will start filming this winter in Queens, NY. The show will focus on the family’s immigration from Trinidad in the ’90s, to what it was like for Nicki to grow up in Queens and eventually evolve into a star. “Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” Karey Burke, Executive Vice President Programming and Development at ABC Family said in a press release. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Nicki, 32, also commented on how she’s excited about the show, that she will EP with the help of Kate Angelo, Aaron Kaplan, Stella Bulochnikov, and Brian Sher.
