It’s National Coffee Day but don’t offer Hillary Clinton a Pumpkin Spice Latte on the campaign trail! It turns out the presidential hopeful doesn’t like one of the most popular Starbucks drinks and she had a simple explanation.
Attention voters: Hillary Clinton has just announced her position on the Pumpkin Spice Latte issue and it turns out she’s not a supporter! The Democratic presidential candidate made a big java splash on National Coffee Day, when she revealed she’s not a fan of the popular drink and she made her feelings known on Facebook.
When a woman named Clare Celsi asked: “Hillary — are you a pumpkin spice latte kinda gal?” Hillary responded: “Ha! The true answer is I used to be until I saw how many calories were in them.” This has caused outrage among PSL lovers! But we did a little bit of research and on the Starbucks nutritional value site, it states that a grande PSL with non fat milk clocks in at about 310 calories but that’s without whipped cream. If you add that delicious topping it puts you in around 380 calories, which really isn’t that bad!
Now if you move up the ladder to a Venti, that does put you at 470 with whipped cream so maybe that was Hillary’s order? If you simply order a tall, nonfat PSL with no whipped cream you are smooth sailing at 240 calories. But Hillary isn’t the only notable figure to express their dislike for the yummy drink. Anthony Bourdain totally slammed the drink: “I think pumpkin spice is disgusting. I certainly don’t want it in my coffee. I like pumpkin just fine. I like pumpkin pie. Pumpkin tortellini. I make a decent pumpkin soup. But I can’t think of the last time I woke up in the middle of the night and thought, ‘You know what? I could really go for some pumpkin.’”
