Fans were shocked when Danny Pintauro confessed that he had been diagnosed with HIV. Now his former TV mom Judith Light is speaking out about the pride she feels over his heartbreaking confession.
Actor Danny Pintauro, 39, made a very brave admission when he told the world he was HIV positive on Oprah Winfrey‘s show Oprah: Where Are They Now, on Sept. 26. Now Judith Light, 66, his former Who’s The Boss co-star is speaking out about how proud she is of Danny for sharing his diagnosis.
“He has kept me informed all the way along. He called and I said ‘Danny, I think you need to have a conversation with Herb (my longtime manager) about how to do this. They’re going to out you so you should be talking about how you want to handle it with the press’,” Judith said in an interview with Good Day New York. The vocal gay rights supporter and star of the show ‘Transparent,’ said Danny is doing well and that she told him, “I am so proud of him. He’s talking about being HIV positive. He is being very proactive. He’s giving a different face to a disease that has still not been handled. You can see how well he is doing.” We’re glad to see that even twenty years after they stopped working together, Judith is still there for TV son.
Danny told Oprah in their discussion that he wanted to share the news of his illness “a long time ago,” but was not yet ready to do so. Now, Danny said that he’s ready to be open about his fight, because he wants to serve as a role model for the gay community. “It’s just a big deal. It’s not something that people are talking about right now really.” However he won’t have to through this fight alone. His husband Wil Tabares, posted an Instagram shot of himself next to Danny with the caption “Last meal as a nobody. ;) first meal as an activist. #lifelovelive”. Our hearts are with you Danny.
