Jordan Spieth is a champion! The PGA powerhouse topped the Tour Championship, bringing home the FedExCup and $10 million in winnings for his sensational four-stroke victory. This calls for a celebration!
A round of applause for Jordan Spieth, 22! The champion clinched his victory at the FedExCup on September 27 by shooting a 1-under 69 to finish at 9 under — a four-stroke win. Well, anyone who thought Jordan wouldn’t be Player of the Year is certainly feeling pretty dumb right about now!
This is Jordan’s fifth win of the season, but also his grandest. With the win, Jordan moves back to No. 1 in world rankings after Jason Day took the title away for two weeks following the BMW Championship. Sorry, Jason; there’s a new king in town!
Jordan began the day almost neck and neck with Henrik Stenson, the 2013 FedExCup champ, but pulled through to dominate at the 8th hole. While Henrik struggled to maintain his composure, Jordan absolutely demolished with a 18-footer that let him stay far in the lead.
His biggest putt of the day was an astounding shot at the 11th hole, from 46 feet, 7 inches. Insane! He now has a massive victory to his name, and that $10 million purse is nothing to sneeze at, either. In fact, with that win Jordan has now taken home a record $12 million in one season. Go Jordan!
The day before the FedExCup, Jordan spoke to ESPN to tell them about his hopes for the event, which he would go on to win. “No matter what, it’s a dream-come-true season,” Jordan said. “So I don’t need tomorrow to justify it. I’m not going to sit here and say $10 million doesn’t mean anything to me, because it does. It’s a fantastic bonus that I don’t even know where it came from … but all of a sudden they just want to give us more money. So it’s fine with me.”
