Are you ready for the hottest new show on TV? Well, the series premiere of ‘Blood & Oil’ aired on Sept. 27, and it was intense! Chace Crawford is back, y’all!
When you want to get filthy rich, there’s a price to be paid. On the series premiere of Blood & Oil, Billy (Chace Crawford) and Cody (Rebecca Rittenhouse) tried to start over and make it big, Wick (Scott Michael Foster) stirred up trouble, Cody revealed some shocking news to Billy and the final moments of the first episode left everything up in the air!
High school sweethearts Billy and Cody were driving up to North Dakota to start a new life for themselves. Well, life has a way of throwing a tractor trailer right in your direction when you least need it. Billy swerved across the road in order not to get slammed by the truck. Their car flipped, sending washing machines into the field. They were planning to open up three laundromats because apparently North Dakota was the epicenter of laundry success.
They couldn’t go back home and tell their family and friends they’d lost their $37,000. So they headed to Rock Springs to start over — again. They walked into a bar and met a sexy bartender. If anyone was going to be able to tell them where they could crash, it was the sexy bartender lady.
Scott Michael Foster’s Wick came in loud and clear after killing a white moose, angering the local Native Americans. The woman told him he was cursed. A scuffle ensued and gunshots went off — it was basically insanity. Welcome to Rock Springs! Cody and Billy stayed at a campsite and met some friends who wanted to open a restaurant in town.
Wick, however, had to make the walk of shame home to daddy Hap (Don Johnson), the King of Rock Springs. They didn’t have the best relationship. Hap said Wick had trashed the family name. Yikes. He wasn’t going to just hand over the “keys to the kingdom” to Wick. Wick was going to have to work for it — as in on the rig. Part of the reason Wick and Hap didn’t get along is clearly because of Hap’s new, beautiful wife, Darla (Amber Valletta). She and Hap made a hell of a team.
Meanwhile, Billy went to find a job while Cody went to find a house. Billy and Wick ended up working on the same rig. Wick threw a tantrum and walked away. He ended up making a huge mess with Billy getting fired because of his mistake. This didn’t get by Hap either. He called Wick a “lying son of a bitch.” Rather than just take the beatdown from dear ole daddy, Wick tried to throw a punch at Hap. That’s when Hap cut Wick off completely. “You don’t deserve to be my son,” he said.
Cody managed to accomplish two things in one day to Billy’s none. She got a job at the pharmacy and a place for them to stay. Ladies get stuff done around Rock Springs. At Hap’s birthday party, Darla made some big power plays. She also realized that there was new oil on land previously thought barren. All they needed was access to the McCutching Ranch.
Wick was still stewing over Hap cutting him off. He vowed to make his own way and his own money. He kicked things off by having steamy sex on piles of money with Jules. Speaking of hot sex, Billy and Cody were beyond hot. When they work together, it’s sexy. When Billy took off his shirt, WHOA. That was the end of their conversation.
Let’s Make A Deal
Billy took some initiative and went after the parcel he needed to get inside the McCutching Ranch. It was owned by Clifton Lundgren a.k.a. Whitey from One Tree Hill. Billy schmoozed him pretty good. Clifton offered the parcel for $70,000. Billy didn’t exactly have that kind of money. When Clifton upped it to $75,000, Billy took the deal. He went to work to pick up the cash. Cody wasn’t exactly thrilled he borrowed so much cash, but she had bigger things to deal with — she was PREGNANT!
They went back to Clifton’s. Briggs’ people had already been to him and increased the price. He wanted to make a deal with them, but it was going to take $100,000. Oh, and they had to get the money before Briggs’ people brought it over. Time crunch much?
Cody hit her breaking point. She fought with Billy over this whole deal. It was getting way too risky, especially with a baby involved. “Don’t quit on me,” he said. After gambling didn’t go as planned, Billy sulked at the bar. Jules had the money, but she wanted collateral. Cody offered up her diamond necklace that her grandmother gave her.
Billy now had the cash! On the way to Clifton’s, Billy ended up crashing his car. He literally has the worst luck. He ran to Clifton’s house, but he got there after Briggs’ people.
Up In Flames
Hap caught wind of all this and invited Billy and Cody over to chat business. Billy and Cody wanted a 3-year lease for $1 million plus 5% interest on any oil drilled on the land. Darla said Billy was “ambitious.” You got that right. Hap seemed to really like what he saw in Billy. The young couple ended up getting a $1.1 million deal because Billy used Clifton’s trick.
Billy and Cody gave their friends at the campsite $50,000 to start their new restaurant, and they got a little apartment. So cute! All seemed so well after a few days of turmoil. Hap picked up Billy and Cody for a little celebration. Hap liked Billy — he was everything Wick wasn’t. Meanwhile, Wick was planning on stealing oil from his dad.
Hap brought Billy, Cody and Darla to the McCutching Ranch and realized that someone else was there. A masked Wick held Hap at gunpoint. Billy tackled Wick, and they started fighting in the middle of a pile of oil. The gun went off and a spark from an overhead light lit the place on fire. BOOM.
I’m really looking forward to what Blood & Oil has in store. It’s sexy, fun and Chace Crawford is charming as hell. It’s got that little touch of that Revenge-type drama that already has me addicted.
