We should have expected this. In the era of reboots of nearly every film, ‘Men In Black’ is next on the list. The movies about a two agents saving the world from aliens are getting ‘reinvented’ in a new trilogy. Will Will Smith reprise his role?!
Men In Black is headed back to theaters — sort of. The classic films are getting a reboot. Men In Black is going to be “reinvented as a trilogy,” according to the original producers. When you think of Men In Black, one always thinks of Will Smith. So, will he be returning? Find out now!
Pretty much every film out there is getting a reboot these days — Spider-Man, Indiana Jones, Jumanji, Point Break. Well, it didn’t take long for producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald to realize that MIB still had some juice left in it.
When asked about reviving the MIB franchise, Walter told The Hollywood Reporter, “We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active.” When asked if Will will have anything to do with it, Walter added, “Most likely no.”

That’s a bummer. Will’s character Jay became one of the most iconic characters of the ’90s, along with the Fresh Prince, of course! But rarely any remakes/reboots have featured the original cast, save for Ghostbusters.
“It will be reinvented as a trilogy,” Laurie said about the MIB reboot. There’s no word yet on who will star in the reboot, so it’s time to start throwing names into the ring! There’s also still hope Will and Tommy Lee Jones could make a cameo!
The first Men In Black film came out in 1997, followed by a sequel in 2002 and another film in 2012. All three films starred Will and Tommy.
HollywoodLifers, are you excited for the Men In Black reboot? Who do you think should nab the big roles? Let us know!
