If you’re confused about all of the hair products out there, don’t worry — we’ve simplified the process for you by picking the best on the market! You don’t need to spend hours in front of the mirror, as top hairstylist Breno Miranda of Louis Licari Salon in New York City tells us. Check out his tips for using the products we’ve picked.
For straight and sleek hair, try the Drybar Smooth Operator Flatiron. “The secret is for it not to fall flat or to damage it in the process. Using a heat protecting spray [like Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Crystal Shine & Hold Heat Protection Shine Spray] on the ends will keep it healthy and shiny,” Breno says. “Use dry shampoo (we like Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo) on the roots for body. Then, with a flat iron, take half inch sections thick and a wide enough section to fit your iron’a surface. Slowly use one or two passes on that section for the smoothest finish. The biggest and most damaging mistake we make is going over a section with the iron 100 times!”

If you want to experiment with funky waves instead, you can first use the dry shampoo again, to “not only to clean that oily scalp but give it volume at the root”. Invest in a curling iron like the pretty Pro Beauty Tools Iridescent Tapered Curling Wand Iron and don’t overdo it when you curl! “A tip on how to keep this look on the wavy side, and not look fully curly, is to use one-inch sections with the iron. Leave the last inch of the ends to achieve that edgy style,” Breno advises. Check out the gallery to see our other picks!
