Without saying a word, rapper Raury sent a loud message to Donald Trump. They both joined Stephen Colbert on the Sept. 22 episode of ‘The Late Show.’ While Raury performed, he dissed Donald by wearing a shirt with Trump’s name crossed out! Click to watch!
Wow! Atlanta rapper Raury, 19, made a huge splash with his first ever network television appearance. Once Stephen Colbert, 51, was done interviewing Donald Trump, 69, on The Late Show, Raury took to the stage to perform — and he rocked out while wearing an Anti-Trump shirt!
Stephen had both Donald and Raury on the Sept. 22 episode of The Late Show, reports VICE. Once Donald was done, it was Raury’s turn in the spotlight. Viewers watched as he performed his song, “Devil’s Whisper,” while wearing a Mexico soccer jersey. While that would have been a subtle jab at Donald’s anti-Mexican comments, Raury had no time to be subtle. When he turned his back to the camera, Raury revealed that the word TRUMP, crossed out with a bright red X.
“Trump embodies separation, solving problems with anger, fear and personal differences,” Raury told VICE, explaining his wardrobe choice before his national television debut. “I’m all about the opposite, about being inclusive and open.”
Raury’s outfit was clearly about Donald’s comments about Mexicans. Donald infamously called them “rapists” and “drug dealers” during his campaign announcement, and he continues to double-down on his controversial remarks. The opportunity to slam the Republican candidate on television was too good for Raury to pass up. “I’ll always have something to say, especially when it affects me, like police brutality of giving the police any more power,” Raury said.
Sadly, Donald didn’t immediately respond to Raury’s diss. He and his entourage left The Late Show right after his interview was over. Maybe he DVR’d it? We’ll have to wait to see. Something tells us that Donald isn’t rushing out to get Raury’s debut album anytime soon.
What do you think about Raury’s wardrobe diss, HollywoodLifers? Clever? Or not the right time or place? Did Raury’s performance make you a fan?
