When Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt are all on one screen, you know you want to watch. Plus, a Selena Gomez cameo!?
The Big Short tells the story of a group of four outsiders who saw the 2008 crash coming, and when they bet against it, they won. While everyone in the world was losing money, they were getting rich. Based on a true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis, The Big Short is directed by Adam McKay, the mind behind Anchorman and The Blind Side, and stars quite the cast: Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Marisa Tomei and Melissa Leo. Watch the trailer here.
When watching the trailer, which includes a lot of powerful men, don’t miss the cameos made by some younger Hollywood stars: American Horror Story‘s Finn Wittrock and Max Greenfield, and yes, Selena Gomez. Ok, I didn’t see her in the trailer, but according to IMDB, she’s in it.
In the trailer, the guys are asked how the banks could let this happen. “It’s fueled by stupidity,” Ryan Gosling’s character says. “That’s not stupidity, that’s fraud,” Steve Carell answers. After a long pause, Ryan’s character replies, “Tell me the difference between stupid and illegal, and I’ll have my wife’s brother arrested.” We have to say — this could be a favorite moment, since it cuts to a different looking (but still gorg) Brad Pitt laughing.
The Big Short will debut on closing night of November’s AFI Fest in Los Angeles, and will hit theaters in limited release Dec. 11, just in time to make it into the Oscars race — but it will definitely habve some tough competition with The Danish Girl. But could it take home a few awards? Do you want to see it? Let us know.
