Rumer Willis finally made her Broadway debut! Hopefully, nobody told her to ‘break a leg.’ A stress fracture in her foot delayed Rumer from joining the cast of ‘Chicago,’ but she finally made it — and her proud parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, were there to cheer her on!
Welcome to Broadway, Rumer Willis! The 27-year-old made her long-awaited debut in the Big Apple’s production of Chicago. The theater was packed with people waiting to see the Dancing With The Stars champ take the stage, including her two biggest fans: father Bruce Willis, 60, and her mother, Demi Moore, 52!
After a pair of delays, Rumer became Roxie Hart for the Sept. 21 show of Chicago, reports Daily Mail. It was a sold-out show and her entire family was there to witness her very first Broadway performance. Along with Bruce and Demi, Rumer’s sisters, Tallulah Willis and Scout Willis, were in the audience to support their older sis! Rumer’s family would naturally say she killed it, but early reviews from audience members said that Rumer was “pretty darn terrific” and that she “slayed Act One!”
After the performance, Rumer’s family met her backstage. Bruce had a huge smile on his face and Demi looked so proud! These two have been there for Rumer ever since day one, and her whole family looked as happy as they did when Rumer won DWTS.
For a while, though, it almost looked like Rumer wasn’t going to make it! She had to put off her opening night twice due to a series of stress fractures in her right foot, reports the New York Daily News. “Honestly, I was ready to do everything else (except the dance numbers) and I had the whole show learned,” she said. “Other than that, I was walking around in a boot. So it was kind of driving me crazy. I knew all the lines and scenes and everything, but I just couldn’t dance.”
It’s great that she waited until she was 100% because she gave it all out on the stage. At the end of her performance, Rumer was given a huge bouquet of roses and a standing ovation! Wow! She’s now gone from dancing with the stars to becoming one on Broadway!
Are you glad Rumer finally made her Broadway debut, HollywoodLifers? Are you going to try to see her play Roxie?
