Trevor Noah takes over ‘The Daily Show’ from Jon Stewart in just one week on Sept. 28, and he revealed to EXCLUSIVELY how he’s getting ready to host his very own show. Hint: he’s putting in ‘a lot’ of hours!

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Trevor Noah is the new host of The Daily Show. His big debut is one week away, and Trevor, 31, told EXCLUSIVELY exactly how he’s preparing to host the beloved show. He’s got a lot of expectations to live up to taking over for Jon Stewart, 52, and Trevor admitted that he’s been texting Jon for advice!

“Every day it’s getting ready and getting into the rhythm of the show!” he told at the Emmys on Sept. 20. “It starts at 8 a.m. till whenever. Unless it’s like debate night, then it is later… like 1 a.m. So it’s a lot of work!”

Trevor has some big shoes to fill. Jon was The Daily Show host from 1996 until 2015. His final show aired Aug. 6. When Trevor was named as Jon’s replacement, he was only a contributor and had only appeared on the show three times!

The South African-born host also revealed that he still looks up to Jon, and they’ll definitely be talking before his Daily Show premiere. “If I ever get stuck for like a day, I will text Jon. So far, I haven’t had to do that. I think I will talk to him before the launch of the show to seek some advice and wisdom, which he has a lot of, and I would be happy to do that!”

Jon has full faith in Trevor and defended the new host on the show back in April 2015. “I do hope you give him the opportunity to earn that trust and respect,” Jon said. “My experience with him is that he is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate and funny and smart individual, and man, I think if you give him that time it’s gonna be well worth it.”

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premieres Sept. 28 at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
