While most folks wouldn’t consider a British boy band the top choice to entertain football fans, don’t forget that other boy bands have performed at halftime shows before. Don’t forget that N’SYNC performed alongside Britney Spears and Aerosmith at the Super Bowl back in 2001!
As we’ve reported EXCLUSIVELY before, the NFL would rather have multiple acts over one main act for the Super Bowl halftime show. “They know they are running out of people to do it so they want to make this year a bigger deal with a host of different acts instead of one especially since its the 50th Super Bowl. That is why they have asked Britney, Taylor, Bruno [Mars] and others to make it a once in a lifetime performance. They want to give their fans as much entertainment as possible.”

It would be a great opportunity for the band, who have sold out stadiums across the U.S. during their latest tour. Even though they lost member Zayn Malik, 22, in March 2015, the band has forged on as a quartet without missing a beat. But with a hiatus coming in 2016, performing at the Super Bowl would be a great last concert for the group.
After their next album, the band will be taking an extended break after five years of non-stop recording and touring. British DJ Nick Grimshaw, 31, a close pal of member Harry Styles, 21, noted “People think being a pop star is glamorous, but it’s exhausting and disorienting at their level. They don’t see the world — they just do press in different cities. They’re men now, and need to experience some actual life,” he told The Guardian.
