Who ya gonna call? Ernie Hudson! Another original ‘Ghostbuster’ has joined the cast of the new all-female reboot of the 1984 classic! This is so exciting!
Over 30 years after he first fought off ghouls, actor Ernie Hudson, 69, is back at it on the set of the new Ghostbusters remake. Ernie will be reprising his original character of Winston Zeddmore in the all-female reboot starring Melissa McCarthy, 45, and Kristen Wiig, 42. We can’t wait to see it!
Ernie was spotted on set in New York City on Sept. 19, looking dapper in a suit. He was shooting alongside the film’s stars Melissa and Kristen confirming his appearance in the flick. The ladies were in casual wear with Melissa ready to take on some paranormal activity, looking studious in glasses and an army jacket.
In the original, Ernie’s character joined the Ghostbusters to help out Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and the late Harold Ramis, clean up a city full of ghosts and slime balls. He was the first and only applicant after a huge breakout of otherworldly activity in the Big Apple required the team to hire an extra member. Good to see he’ll be bringing his years of experience to help the new team of ladies battling ghouls in Manhattan in present day!
With the new reboot, Melissa plays Abby Yates, who along with Kristen Wiig’s Erin Gilbert, play professors who author a book that claims ghosts are real. They go unappreciated until ghosts take over Manhattan and who ya gonna call? Melissa and Kristen!
Original Ghostbuster Dan is helping script the new film and is rumored to be making an appearance as his iconic character Dr. Raymond Stantz. In July, Dan tweeted (then deleted) about being on set filming his scene with Kristen Wiig. Our sister publication Variety has confirmed Bill Murray will also make an appearance in the reboot.
It looks like all the surviving original members will be helping out the new generation of female Ghostbusters — as well as the gorgeous Chris Hemsworth, 32. How excited are you now? We can’t wait!
