Wow! The 2015 Emmy Awards honored the incredible actors and producers behind some of the best shows in TV history. The night was full of laughs, courtesy of Andy Samberg, 37, Amy Poehler, 44, and more. After years of being snubbed, Jon Hamm, 44, took home an Emmy. Plus, Tracy Morgan, 46, made a surprise appearance! Here’s a look at what went down during this memorable night in entertainment!
The biggest stars of the small screen packed the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sept. 20, bringing the glitz and glam to the 2015 Emmys. The celebs — some gorgeously dressed, some not — waited to see who would take home the top honors in drama, comedy and all things TV.
As the show’s host, Andy brought the funny and did a great job from the start of the show to the very end! After a hilarious musical number kicked off the program, Andy was on fire for the whole night, including a funny-but-accurate reenactment of the past season of Girls.
Amy Poehler and fellow Amy, Amy Schumer, gave out the first award of the night, the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series. The Amys were just as funny as the winner, Allison Janey. The Parks & Rec star also appeared wearing a hoodie and sunglasses while relaxing in the audience! See all the winners here!
Andy and Amy weren’t the only funny people stealing the spotlight during the show. Jimmy Kimmel decided that before he would give out the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, he decided to eat the presenter’s envelope and the name of the winner! Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross made the audience laughing when they were onstage. Ricky Gervais pretended to win an award while giving out the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting actor!
It wasn’t all just laughs. Fred Savage introduced a loving tribute to all the series that came to an end, including shows like Mad Men, Nurse Jackie, Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire. The memorial also honored Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and David Letterman, who each stepped away from their old late night gigs. Unfortunately, the memorial contained lots of spoilers! Yikes!
Speaking of Jon, he won his last ever Emmy with The Daily Show. Uzo Aduba also won Outstanding Supporting Actress and gave an emotional speech! Congrats! Jon Hamm finally took home an Emmy. Thank goodness! It was his last time that Don Draper could win, and he did it!
After years of snubs, Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany was finally given a chance to take home the Emmy. She was up for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for playing multiple characters in the sci-fi series. Unfortunately, she lost to Viola Davis.
Before the Emmy for Outstanding Drama could be presented, the show had one last major surprise: Tracy Morgan returned to the stage for the first time since his horrible auto accident! Amazing! “Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said, ‘we’d see you here next year, Tracy Morgan,'” Tracy said. “Thanks to my doctors and my beautiful wife, I’m here standing on my own two feet.”
With so many amazing moments, it’s hard to pick which one was the best! What did you think about the 2015 Emmys, HollywoodLifers? Be sure to pick your favorite in our poll!
