It’s hard to host an award show! Just ask any past show host, they’ll tell you how difficult it is. Luckily, the Brooklyn 99 actor was able to get through the night without any mishaps! Andy managed to pull it off and even get a few chuckles from the audience.
1. Motor boating the butt of the Emmys statue.
That was so unexpected, but it definitely caused quite a few laughs! As the 37-year-old appeared on stage right next to a larger-than-life replica of the Emmys statuette, he said, “Here’s my impression of the last season of Girls.” Before the camera panned away, the show host quickly shook his head back and forth near the statuette’s bottom!
2. Andy giving out his HBO Now account information
What a generous guy. Thanks a lot, Andy! While making a joke about how HBO CEO Richard Plepler said in a previous interview with CNNMoney that “password sharing is just simply not a big number,” the Emmys host decided to share his own account! In case anyone missed it, here’s the login info: Khaleesifan3@EmmyHost.com, PW: password1. We suggest you to binge watch as many shows as you can before they shut down that account!
3. Andy’s opening skit
Wasn’t that song number a little reminiscent of Andy’s “Great Day” short on Saturday Night Live? The number started off with the comedian at a dinner party with his friends asking him if he’s seen all of these great shows that are currently on television. After answering no to every single title, Andy decided to lock himself in an underground bunker to watch all of the shows suggested. A year later he emerges from the bunker and immediately goes into a hilarious song number featuring Jon Hamm, 44, Kerry Washington, 38, and Nathan Fillion, 44. The whole thing just made us miss having Andy as a recurring cast member on the sketch comedy show!
4. Andy’s Olive Kitteridge joke
It was painfully hilarious. Olive Kitteridge had quite a few nominations, so naturally, the host had to say something about it! “I have to admit, I haven’t seen Olive Kitteridge — I’ve only seen half of Kitteridge,” he said. It probably caused a few groans from viewers, but hey! It was a good one, right?
5. Justin Timberlake appearance??
Since the Emmys were held in Los Angeles, Calif. and Andy is hosting the show, it would make sense for Justin Timberlake, 34, one of his BFFS, to come out and support Andy, right? Or at least make an appearance in one of his skits! Unfortunately, the 37-year-old killed everyone’s hopes of an Andy and Justin reunion by saying at the beginning, “I’m Andy Samberg. Justin Timberlake is not coming.” Sad!
