Even after authorities launched an investigation to gather more information about ‘Baby Doe,’ they were unsuccessful. For roughly 80 days, Bella Bond was unidentified until law enforcement finally received a tip that helped them identified the toddler’s name.
One publicity campaign and roughly 60 million social media views later, Bella Bond‘s body was finally identified. It was one person’s brave act that helped Boston police identify the young girl who was known in the media as “Baby Doe.” Bella’s identification led law enforcement to the young girl’s mother Rachelle Bond, 40, and her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy, 35.
With the help of an anonymous woman, Boston authorities were able to identify the young toddler. “I am glad she has a name, and can rest in peace and get justice,” the anonymous tipster told WCVB‘s Karen Anderson. “Being known as Baby Doe is just horrible. She deserved better.” The young toddler, who was known in the media as “Baby Doe,” was found washed up on the shore of a beach in Boston, Massachusetts on June 25.
Once the police received the tip, a search warrant was executed at a home on Maxwell Street in Dorchester on Sept. 17. Soon after, Rachelle and Michael were brought in for questioning. Bella’s mother and her boyfriend, who is not Bella’s biological father, were arrested Sept. 18, a law enforcement official told CNN. Michael is facing a murder charge while Rachelle will be charged with accessory after the fact for her daughter’s death. They are expected to be arraigned on Sept. 21.
Authorities To Release Information On The Cause Of Death On Sept. 21
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley revealed that information pertaining to Bella’s cause of death will be released on Monday, Sept. 21, Daily Mail reports. “We have a very good idea of what happened to her based on evidence,” Daniel said. “We have powerful evidence that has provided us a manner of death that we will be able to prove in court.” The D.A. added that Bella’s life ended “by violence in the place she should have felt safest: iin her home.”‘ This whole incident is so tragic.
Our thoughts are with sweet, innocent child.
