Gigi Hadid killed it in the makeup department at the ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ Icons event on September 16. The blonde bombshell tried out a bold, double-lined black eyeliner look that was beyond cool.

How do you stand out in a room full of genetically superior models? Make sure your makeup game is on point. Model-of-the-moment Gigi Hadid, 20, did just that when she tried out an Egyptian-inspired eyeliner look that seemed as though it could have been taken right off the runway with its edgy, high-fashion vibe.

Patrick Ta created Gigi’s dramatic lined look, taking inspiration from iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath, who recently created an over-the-top, Cleopatra-inspired eye makeup look for Kim Kardashian‘s shoot with Violet Grey. Here’s how you can recreate the Maybelline spokesmodel’s fashion week eye makeup:

  1. Start by creating a floating crease with a thin liner like Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner in Black. Create the line along the natural crease of your eye lid, keeping the line towards the outer half of your eye.

2) Along your upper and lower lashline (and avoiding the inner corner), use a more blendable liner like Maybelline Eye Studio Master Kajal Eyeliner in Onyx Rush. Join the lower and upper lashline at the outer corner, creating a triangular shape.

3) Finish by curling your lashes and applying a coat of black mascara like the new Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

Patrick also used Ardell short and medium black knot free flares on Gigi for an extra pop.

Gigi kept the rest of her beauty look more reserved, with brushed up brows and a glossy nude-pink lip. Jennifer Yepez styled Gigi’s long blonde hair into effortless undone waves that added to the modern take on Egyptian-inspired eye makeup.
