The models at Badgley Mischka got a dose of glamour at the socialite-inspired Spring/Summer 2016 New York Fashion Week Show. Bright red lips, retro waves and glittering gold nails made this beauty look one to bookmark.
The beauty inspiration at Badgley Mischka was the glamorous socialites from the ’50s, in the equally glamorous setting of Buenos Aires. To put a fresher spin on the sophisticated look (worn on the red carpet by celebs like Victoria Justice) models got matte lips and soft waves. Get the backstage expert tips for recreating the look for yourself!
The makeup at Badgley had more of a socialite-off-duty feel to it thanks to the matte red lip that bordered on pink. To get what he called a “ladylike” lip, makeup artist Tom Pecheux mixed two yet-to-be-released shades of MAC Cosmetics lip creams, which created a “pinkish, coral” color. The skin was simply moisturized with foundation and concealer used only where needed, and a soft highlighter on the highpoints of the face. Brows were brushed up and lashes were curled but left without mascara.
When it came to hair, Peter Gray prepped damp hair with Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray and Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse concentrated on the roots. Once the hair was dried, Gray parted it down the center and curled the hair with a one 1/4-inch and one-inch curling iron, leaving the ends out for an “easy bend.” Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray was misted on top to add hold to the loose waves.

To finish the look with some major glitz, Deborah Lippmann created a custom color that included actual gold. After laying down a base coat, Deborah chose the rose gold metallic shade, Lullaby of Broadway before topping nails with 24k gold flakes in Gold Digger (exclusive to Barneys).
