‘Dancing With The Stars’ season 21 is underway, and with the new season comes a lot of new beauty looks from judge Julianne Hough. Get the details on her premiere half up, half down hairstyle.
Julianne Hough, 27, kicked off the new season of DWTS on September 14 with an icy blue smokey eye and her blonde bob styled into a pretty half up, half down style. We know we can always count on the judge and former two-time champion of the show for a good beauty look each week, and the premiere was no exception.
Take a closer look at Julianne’s hairstyle from the back, because it’s a good one. Instead of the traditional plain, pinned back style (or the trendy knotted half up, half down look), Julianne’s does a cool criss-cross.

Of course Julianne’s BFF and hairstylist Riawna Capri created the look, which included lots of volume at the crown of the head and an airy texture in the back. To copy the look, blow your hair out using a thickening spray on the roots if you need more volume. Once hair is dry, add volume and grip with a product like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, then comb the top section of your hair back and cross the sides over before pinning into place.
