Blue and teal eye makeup was all over the runway during NYFW, and spotted on models like Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid. Get the modern look below.
For a long time, blue eyeshadow screamed “80s!” but now, it’s totally fresh, cool, modern…and super sexy. Not only have we seen the Kardashians rocking the trend, but it was all over the Spring 2016 runways during New York Fashion Week.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath applied blue and green shadows and liners to models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid at Diane Von Furstenberg‘s show on Sept. 13. The ’70s disco vibe was gorgeous and had Beauty Editors, like myself, totally swooning.
Blue Eye Makeup At NYFW — Spring 2016 Beauty Trend
At the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2016 show, lead artist Francelle Daly for NARS Cosmetics said of the look: “The skin is organic, clean, simple, earthy and real. Look at the environment of the set — mounds of organic earth and the smell overwhelms you of nature, I wanted that to read in the makeup. The girls have a light wash of matte foundation and stick concealer, so the skin reads naked and natural. There is a boldness of color coming from the eye, a reference of new romanticism and new wave with the bright blue and black lines.”

At Jenny Packham, Laura Mercier makeup artist Talia Sparrow applied thick winged liner in a custom teal color to models before they walked the runway.
Here’s how to get a similar look. Mix Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Linen ($27) with Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Canard ($25) and apply them both with the Laura Mercier Angled Eye Liner Brush ($20). Use a beige eyeliner to line the bottom waterline. Add many coats of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara ($25) to create bold voluminous lashes.
