Singer, songwriter…DJ?! Nick Jonas showed off yet another skill when picked the songs for the swimsuit and evening wear competitions for the Miss America 2016 pageant. Check out his choices!
Nick Jonas, 22, returned to his native New Jersey when he made a special appearance at the 89th Miss America pageant, held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Sept. 13. He wasn’t just there for looks, though — he took a turn as DJ and picked out the songs that played during each segment.
Looking positively dashing in a charcoal tuxedo, Nick seemed at ease surrounded by gorgeous women in bikinis at the 2016 Miss America pageant. He first chose the song for the swimsuit competition, which is one of the most anticipated segments of the pageant. Nick chose Fifth Harmony‘s “Worth It”. Before the swimsuit competition began, he shared his inspiration for choosing the song: “I was looking for music with a great, strong beat, a great hook,” Nick said. “I think Fifth Harmony’s song “Worth It” is the perfect song for that.”
We think so, too! Host Brooke Burke-Charvet agreed, as she exuberantly tweeted:

As for the evening wear segment, he decided to shake things up: “This year we thought we’d give it more contemporary sound, a stronger beat,” Nick said. He picked Bea Miller‘s Fire N Gold, which lent a sassy backdrop to the gorgeous gowns and sweeping trains.

The contestants looked amazing as they strutted their stuff down the catwalk, first stunning in sexy, bright bathing suits and then exuding confidence in beautiful ball gowns. Unfortunately, not everyone advanced, but hey — the eliminated ladies got to sit and chill out with Nick. Not bad! We can’t wait to see what surprises are in store this evening — and who will ultimately take home the crown!
