Eeeek, awkward! It’s never easy to host a live television show, and Brooke Burke-Charvet let the pressure get to her a bit, mispronouncing Taya Kyle’s name during Miss America. And fans totally called her out for it on Twitter afterward!
Brooke Burke-Charvet, 44, hosted Dancing With the Stars for years, but she made a bit of a flub during her return to live television at the 2016 Miss America pageant on Sept. 13. In the heat of the moment, the mom of four accidentally called judge Taya Kylie ‘Tara Kylie.’ WHOOPS!
During the Q&A portion of the competition, each contestant chooses a judge at random to ask them a question about a controversial topic currently plaguing our country — and when Brooke tossed to Taya because it was her turn, she made the mispronunciation. Taya played it off well and didn’t falter, but it was still a pretty uncomfortable moment, and viewers definitely took note.
It’s pretty surprising that Brooke was so unsure when it came to Taya’s name. The 41-year-old may not be a big-name celebrity like the other judges, which included Zendaya and Vanessa Williams, but she did make major headlines in 2014 when American Sniper, which told the story of her late husband, Chris Kyle, came out.
Of course, we totally understand how things can get crazy in fast-paced live television like this competition, so we can’t blame Brooke too much for her minor flub. However, fans of the pageant definitely made their opinions clear on Twitter after the mess-up. See some of their reactions here:
