A perfect ponytail is a classic, easy to copy look that works for day or night, and any occasion. Get the look seen at Kate Spade’s NYFW show here.
Kate Spade‘s NYFW presentation on Sept. 11 was girly and gorgeous. The nails were a cotton candy confectionary, sweet enough to eat, and the hair was classic and pretty. Get the details on the beauty look below.
Ponytails, like the ones seen at Kate Spade’s Spring Summer 2016 show, and in the past on celebs including Jennifer Lopez, are easy to do but actually looked polished.
Here is how to get the exact look with tips from lead stylist Bob Recine for Fekkai:
“This season, our Kate Spade girl has a soft-yet-polished everyday look. Start by applying an egg-sized dollop of Fekkai Full Blown Volume Lightweight Styling Whip to crown on dry hair and blow dry for volume and height in sections. No need for a brush – this blow dry should be done with your hands for an undone look. Spritz Fekkai Soliel Beach Waves Tousling Spray throughout hair for added texture. Re blow dry. Brush straight back with a wide tooth comb and gather hair into a tidy ponytail that follows the line of the eye at the crown. Secure with elastic. Add black fabric twisted around for a special finishing touch. Spray Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray all over to tame frizz and flyaways.”
Bob told me backstage that the ponytail should be at the height of the temples and “if you can see it from the front, it’s too high.”

The skin of the models was prepped with the new WEI Stress-Releiving Soothing Masks.
The nails were a pretty white by Deborah Lippmann. “Cotton candy…Confectionary splendor…It’s absolutely delicious this season at Kate Spade! I love that her ever-stylish gal takes a playful approach to her wardrobe, so I complemented it with a sugary treat for her nails. Layers of pure white creme, dusty pink shimmer, and a sparkling lilac/lavender (created by the sassy Kelly Ripa in honor of her daughter) set the stage for this fresh and flirty nail look.”
Here’s how to get the look: After prepping nails and cuticles, “paint two coats of Amazing Grace, a pure white crème, waiting 2 minutes to dry between each coat.
For just a hint of iridescent sheen, layer one thin coat each of Magic Is the Moonlight, a dusty pink shimmer, and Whatever Lola Wants, a sparkling lilac, waiting 2 minutes to dry between each coat.”
