Even on a day as tragic as Sept. 11, Donald Trump is still causing controversy. A tweet he sent on the 9/11 anniversary in 2013 is circulating, and Americans are outraged at his message, which calls out ‘the haters and losers’ on such an emotional day.
Donald Trump, 69, was active on Twitter for hours on the 14th anniversary of September 11 before he made any mention of the significance of the date. But even when he did send a message of remembrance, the attention was all focused on an insensitive tweet he sent out on this day two years ago — and the public is infuriated over it.
“I would like to extend my best wishes to all, even the haters and losers, on this special date, September 11th,” the presidential candidate wrote in 2013. When the tweet started surfacing on Sept. 11, 2015, it was deleted from his account. However, hours after the original message was posted, Trump had retweeted it himself, and that hasn’t been removed from his page.
When asked to comment, the Trump campaign simply noted, “It is from several years ago,” and refused to provide a further statement. However, Donald is appearing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon tonight, so there’s definitely a chance he could discuss this further — and, knowing him, something ridiculous will likely come out of his mouth regarding the situation!
As for 2015, Donald, surprisingly, kept things a bit more classy on the 9/11 anniversary. Although he failed to mention anything about the tragic terrorist attacks until three hours after he began tweeting on the morning of 9/11, he eventually tweeted, “Let’s all take a moment to remember all of the heroes from a very tragic day that we cannot let happen again!”
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Donald’s tweet? Will you vote him for President?
