Hooray! Chris Brown won joint custody of his daughter, Royalty, on Sept. 11, but he wasn’t exactly expecting such a positive outcome in court. In fact, Chris was ‘nervous the entire time.’ And he was ‘shocked’ to hear the judge grant him joint custody of his baby girl.
Chris Brown, 26 deflated his ego before walking into court on Friday, Sept. 11. The “Loyal” singer wasn’t exactly sure who the judge would side with in his custody battle with Nia Guzman, 32. Fortunately, Chris was granted joint custody of his daughter, Royalty, but he wasn’t totally expecting that. He knows he’s a good dad, but he’s “had bad luck in court for most of his life.” This time, he walked out a winner.
“This just goes to show you that there is love in the world. Chris was nervous the entire time during his custody hearing. He honestly didn’t know what to expect. He’s had bad luck in court for most of his life, so he was going in feeling like he’d lose on some level. But when the judge sided with him on every issue, Chris was relieved, happy and shocked all at once,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Chris and Nia will share joint physical custody, and Royalty will go back and fourth between their homes every 4 days, according to TMZ. Plus, Nia will only receive $2,500 a month instead of the $15k she was asking for.
“For once in Chris’ life, a court ruling actually went in his favor. It’s a great day for Chris. He has no hard feelings toward Nia. All he wants to do is be a father to Royalty and love her to bits and pieces. And now, he finally gets to do so,” our source adds.
