If you have seen the trailer for ‘Billions,’ you know that Malin Akerman is taking on a new kind of role — a strong, independent woman who just happens to be married to businessman, Damian Lewis.
“It’s a different challenge — something that I haven’t done before,” Malin Akerman, 37, told HollywoodLife.com exclusively during an interview. The actress is currently partnering with King Digital Entertainment for the launch of their mobile game, Paradise Bay, but she’s also starring in Showtime’s new show, Billions, and the new film alongside Nina Dobrev, The Final Girls.
“I love a good challenge, [and] I like representing strong women,” she said of Billions. “It’s really fun; it’s really well written. I’m excited to see where it goes.” As for her on-screen husband, Damian Lewis, she knows that she’s a lucky lady to be next to such an amazing man.
“He’s incredible! What a phenomenal actor and a very charming Brit,” she raved. “He’s just lovely to work with — a professional, really inspiring kind of guy. I’m working with someone who I respect very much. As an actor, I feel like I’m going to learn a lot from working with him. we get along really well.” Malin has done many different roles, including risqué parts where she had to strip down. However, she told us that she’s game for pretty much anything.
“There’s nothing to hold back on. I’m always up for anything as long as it’s not gratuitous, and it makes sense,” she said. “I like pushing the envelope, I like pushing limits. Children’s Hospital, I just love because it pushes the limits with comedy — it’s the same with Showtime shows, and HB shows. The shows we’re seeing, they push the limits in a real way, and it’s like, ‘This is the real way people speak and how they act.’ I like that kind of television; I like those kind of films. If I’m going to be part of it, I’m going to do whatever it takes to make it as real as possible. Again, as long as its not gratuitous.”
Billions premieres on January 17, 2016 on Showtime. Plus her new film The Final Girls comes out October 9, and Malin couldn’t stop raving about the cast full of “goofballs!” We can’t wait.
