Another day, another controversial comment from Donald Trump! The 2016 GOP presidential candidate didn’t hold back while speaking frankly about the U.S. military, and may have stirred up some fury while doing so. His views about his own education are the most shocking of all!
Donald Trump, 69, has a habit of speaking his mind, no matter how polarizing his opinion, and that has only further increased during his bid for the 2016 presidency. His latest talking point? Letting everyone know that going to a military-themed prep school in his teenage years gave him more military training than most who have ever served in the armed forces!
Let Donald explain. In a biography written by Michael D’Antonio, set to be released on September 22, Donald spoke candidly about his rigorous schooling experience, which is responsible for his legendary strict work ethic. His parents sent him to the New York Military Academy, located in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, after years of unruly behavior at Kew-Forest prep school in Queens, NY.
Donald told the author, who interviewed him for six whole hours(!) that he “always felt that [he] was in the military,” due to the rigorous drills and training students received at the school. He said that the boarding school gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.” Wow. That is one controversial statement.
Donald entered the boarding school in 1959, when he was in 8th grade, and stayed until he graduated high school in 1964. Students were required to wear uniforms, participated in marching drills, and were in a hierarchy among their peers. It was strict, yes — but a lot of people wouldn’t say that their time in high school was more significant than actually being in the military!
This probably isn’t going to go over well with those who have served in the military and their loved ones! It will be interesting to see how this effects his presidential campaign. He’s already insulted scores of people — will this finally be the last straw? HollywoodLifers, are you upset by what Donald had to say about the military? Tell us in the comments and take our poll!
