The Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume is sparking outrage in many fans, who claim it to be offensive and tasteless. But what does Cait think about the costume inspired by her famous ‘Vanity Fair’ cover? Watch her surprising reaction here!
The “Call me Caitlyn” Halloween costume of Caitlyn Jenner, 65, has stirred up major controversy, as many claim it to be transphobic and highly offensive to the LGBTQ community. The I Am Cait star revealed her true feelings on the costume in a new interview, and shockingly made a joke out of it!
Though the costume mocks her Vanity Fair cover where she made her beautiful debut as a woman, she revealed to Matt Lauer that she doesn’t take any offense to the costume — quite the opposite actually! “I’m in on the joke. I don’t think it’s offensive,” Cait told Matt in a preview for her upcoming Today interview. “I know the community does and they’ve gotten a lot of criticism for doing it. I think it’s great.” Caitlyn does, however, think her costume could have been a better wardrobe choice! “They could have a better looking outfit,” Cait joked. Good for Caitlyn for being such a good sport, even if we do find the costume a bit offensive ourselves.
The Caitlyn costume is being sold in Spirit Halloween stores, and it comes with shorts, a padded top, a wig and a pageant sash that reads “Call Me Caitlyn” just like her Vanity Fair outfit. It’s the product’s description that has upset many fans. It reads: “You probably won’t break any Twitter records when you wear this outfit like Caitlyn did when she first made her account, but you’ll be sure to get a few laughs out of your friends and the other guests at the get together.”
Caitlyn’s Today interview airs in two parts on Sept. 9 and 10.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you surprised Caitlyn isn’t offended by her Halloween costume? Should she be? Let us know!
