Beyonce and Jay Z, please don’t break up! Rumors are running rampant that the power couple’s nearly 20-year relationship is on the brink of destruction and, honestly, it’s breaking hearts around the world– including mine!
Beyonce, 34, and Jay Z, 45, are preparing to announce the end of their marriage, according to new reports. While only Bey and Jay themselves can really know what has gone down between them, as a devoted fan of both superstars, I just want to say, I hope these two can work it out. Between their shared history with one another, as well as their gorgeous daughter, Blue Ivy, 3, this couple just has too much to lose as a whole if they decide to go their separate ways! Of course, the two ridiculously successful moguls will be fine on their own (both didn’t rise to the very top of their games without self proficiency), but as a pair, they can achieve the inhuman.
They have also been there for each other for so long, and through so much, it would be a shame to throw it away. While we don’t know precisely when the two met, a solid estimate would be around 1999, as Bey said she met Jay when she was 18 and started dating him when she was 19. This was right around the time Bey started breaking into the scene with Destiny’s Child and Jay was still a rapper of average stature and fame. The two went on to date for nearly ten more years, before making it official and tying the knot in 2008.
Cut to more than 16 years (and countless number one singles between the two of them) later, and Beyonce and Jay have completely changed the music game. Remember when Beyonce dropped an entire album without so much as a whisper of promotion? Remember when Jay Z launched his own streaming platform? So do we.
This all isn’t to diminish their individual accomplishments, because as I said, the two are clearly powerhouse entities on their own. However, as an observer of their decade-plus enduring relationship, I am inclined to believe the two are great on their own, but even better as a couple.
Jay himself said it best, when he won a Grammy for his album Magna Carta… Holy Grail back in 2014. Accepting the trophy, he said, “I want to thank God, I mean, a little for this award, but mostly for that and all the universes for conspiring and putting that beautiful light of a young woman in my life.”
So, there’s my opinion which no one asked for– what’s yours? Do you hope Bey and Jay stay together, or could you just not care less?
