The semi-finals continued on the Sept. 8 episode of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ and all 11 acts really brought their A-game while performing for ONE last shot at remaining in the competition. Only five contestants will move on — who has what it takes? Plus, one contestant even stormed off the stage after their act went totally wrong!
11 semi-finalists performed on this week’s America’s Got Talent, but only five will make it to next week’s finals. Re-live all the incredible performances from the show’s Sept. 8 episode and decide for yourself who should move on. We have the full recap right here!
3 Shades Of Blue kicked off the show on a high after getting the judges’ save last week, and started things up with a bang by performing a rendition of AWOLNATION’s “Sail.” Judges Mel B., Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel all agreed it was the guys’ BEST performance yet, but Howard Stern was a bit disappointed in the set and song choice. It’s up to you, America!
Comedian Gary Vider was up next, and jam-packed his stand-up routine with jokes about Jews, his roommate, and — most importantly — Mel B.’s boobs! The audience giggled but wasn’t in stitches, but Howie absolutely GUSHED over the nerdy comic. Mel and Howard agreed, but Heidi, once again, wasn’t impressed with Gary, and chose to keep her mouth shut rather than criticizing him yet again. Oh, and #Boobissippi was immediately trending on Twitter afterward. NBD.
Next, 13-year-old Alondra Santos took the stage and killed it yet again, this time singing a Ricky Martin classic. She might be the youngest left in the competition, but Alondra oozes confidence and seems poised well beyond her years. The judges all praised the teen mariachi singer, although Mel did warn her to be careful about song choice if she makes it to the finals.
Freelusion Dance Company was next to show off their skill, and the group took some major risks to ensure that their routine was the best it could be to push them through. We’re always completely mesmerized by the trio’s talent, and tonight was no different, even though the dance was JUUUUST a tad bit creepy! Mel B. and Howie were beyond impressed by the performance, but Heidi and Howard agreed that the dance got a bit lost in all the technology and illusions.
Up next was Alicia Michilli, who delivered a chill-inducing performance of “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Alicia looked more comfortable on the stage than ever, and it’s amazing to see how much she’s grown throughout these weeks of competition! Mel, Heidi and Howie all thought she did an incredible job, but Howard was pretty brutally honest, and told Alicia she probably won’t make the finals. Yikes!
Piff The Magic Dragon is always so fun, entertaining and fascinating to watch, and things were no different this week. The hilarious magician combined card tricks with magic to make cards picked by the judges appear in slices of bread — honestly, HOW does he do that!? The whole thing brought the audience and judges to their feet and we were left totally in awe.
After being saved by the judges, Daniella Moss really gave it her all to prove she belonged in the competition. Daniella’s voice never ceases to amaze us, and her whole set and look on this episode was absolutely breathtaking. All four judges were totally blown away, and agreed that if the operatic singer doesn’t move on, it’s just because her genre of music isn’t exactly what America’s used to.
Uzeyer Novruzov took a major risk this week by performing a dangerous trick that injured him 15 years ago — but it didn’t exactly work out as he planned. Audience members were on the edge of their seats as he navigated a shaky ladder and stood atop the handlebars at the top, but he, unfortunately, fell off before completing the trick. It was so heartbreaking, but, most importantly, we’re just glad Uzeyer didn’t get hurt. Still, he was visibly frustrated, and even stormed off the stage before host Nick Cannon was done with the segment.
Professional Regurgitator Stevie Starr brought the shock value next with his set! This week, he swallowed smoke and regurgitated it into a bubble made of dish soap and water. Really, we’re not kidding. As usual — don’t try this at home, kids! Oh, he also swallowed an un-cracked egg whole and was able to bring it back up. All the judges stood up on their feet and praised Stevie for his epic set.
Gospel singer Sharon Irving was up next, and, as usual, gave a powerful performance that left us speechless. She sang John Lennon’s classic hit “Imagine” in her style that we’ve grown to know and love. All four judges were once again out of their chairs and couldn’t stop gushing over Sharon. Looks promising for her!
For the final act of the night, Paul Zerdin took the stage, and he even turned Howie into a Human Ventriloquist dummy! Paul totally flipped the tables, putting himself behind the judges’ table and getting Howie to show off his twerking skills on stage while controlling his fake mouth with a clicker. It was literally SO epic and the crowd was on their feet afterward…and it didn’t hurt that all four judges LOVED IT — even Howie!
Whichever five of these acts make it to the finals next week will join the five who’ve already been pushed through: Magician Derek Hughes, Comedian Drew Lynch, Music Duo The CraigLewis Band, Mentalist Oz Pearlmann and singer Benton Blunt. Check back next week to see who’s crowned winner of Season 10!
