NBC crowned their first magician winner on season nine of ‘America’s Got Talent’ — and now he has his own special on the network. See the exclusive first look at ‘Mat Franco’s Got Magic’ here.
Mat Franco is back! On Sept. 17, the America’s Got Talent winner will return to NBC with a two-hour special to show his journey to becoming a star! The magician, 27, will start his journey where his life started — in Rhode Island. From there, we will see Mat stop and perform magic all over the country, meeting celebrities, and impressing everyone.
In the first look photo, we see Mat in a red convertible throwing his cards in the air. Of course, his journey will end in Las Vegas, when he reaches the trip to put on a spectacle show. The second hour of the special will show Mat just three weeks before he takes the stage at his own Las Vegas show. We’ll see how he prepares before the show and who he meets beforehand.
HollywoodLife.com spoke with Mat right after he won season nine, and he told us that Howie Mandel gave him a great deal of advice on the future.
“I didn’t expect to win this thing so now that I have been named the winner of America’s Got Talent, the first thing I said to Howie on stage was, ‘I had a life. I had a plan. What do I do with my life now?,’” Mat told us. “And his advice now was just have fun, and don’t take it too seriously and just enjoy it, have fun, do exactly what you do and keep that attitude. And I’m going to take that advice.”
That sounds like good advice. Mat also wanted everyone to know that he had one end goal: just to make people happy. “I don’t care about fooling people. I want people to smile,” he said. “If you’re not having a good time, I’m not having a good time. If you sit there and think it’s a puzzle that you can’t figure out, well then, I’m presenting it the wrong way. I want people to have fun.”
Mat Franco’s Got Magic airs Thursday, September 17 on NBC from 9 to 11 p.m. ET!
