In case you forgot, Justin Bieber can TOTALLY play the drums. The singer showed off his skills during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show,’ and even took on The Roots’ drummer, Questlove, in an epic battle. Watch his skills here!
Justin Bieber, 21, is a man full of talents — and he proved it while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 2! The “What Do You Mean?” singer accepted Questlove’s challenge for a drum-off, and barely broke a sweat while cranking out the beats on his drum set. You have to watch him totally slay it right here! The battle actually came up because back when the Biebs was on the show in 2010 — that’s FIVE years ago, you guys! — he surprised the audience with his drumming skills…but it was nothing compared to what he can do today. Justin has definitely been practicing, because he looked like a seasoned pro while keeping up with Questlove on the set.
After a few back-and-forths, with the beat quickening throughout each round, even the Roots’ drummer had to give the W to Justin, backing away from his drum set and acknowledging the winner. Okay, they were both pretty awesome, but Q does this for a living, so it’s pretty awesome that the 21-year-old was able to keep up!
While on the show, Justin — whose new single you can buy here — also dished on his epic VMAs performance of “What Do You Mean?,” which concluded with him breaking down in tears. “It was just so overwhelming for me,” he admitted. “Everything, the performance. I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that. Just everyone and their support. Honestly, let me breathe for a second…I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did. The last time I was at an awards show, I was booed. I think it’s just, like, I’ve worked so hard at this alum and at becoming the man I want to become, and then stepping into situations, you just can’t help but feel judged. So I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly, and wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line.”
Plus, of course, the appearance allowed for another opportunity for the Biebs to perform his new hit, and it was just as amazing as we hoped. Along with his drumming, we can see that Justin has also been working on his vocals and dancing, and we’re more excited than ever about his new album dropping — which he confirmed will be happening on Nov. 13! YAY!
