The father-in-law to Jessa Duggar is a pious man, and he’s of the belief that Josh Duggar should not be able to count himself as a fellow Christian. His impassioned essay about the disgraced reality star has been making the rounds — including with Josh’s sister.
Michael Seewald posted an essay on his blog August 31 condemning Josh Duggar, 27, for his behavior regarding adultery and the Ashley Madison scandal. Michael considers Josh’s cheating on his wife absolutely unacceptable, and part of an “un-Christian” lifestyle.
The father-in-law to Jessa Duggar, 22, Josh’s younger sister, wrote a long, passionate essay entitled “Grief, Shame, And Taking The LORD’s Name In Vain,” which Jessa also cross-posted to her Facebook page. Interesting!
“It distresses me to say that Josh Duggar’s greatest sin is a byproduct of the sum total of his secretly sinful lifestyle,” Michael wrote. “That is, that by his hypocrisy, he blasphemed the name of God. He claimed to be a Christian, but by his deeds he has suggested otherwise. With the name of God on his lips he lived a covert and extensive lifestyle of evil.”
Michael went on to say that he had been wrong about forgiving Josh for his molestation scandal, one that had involved Jessa and his other sisters, as well as other little girls when Josh was a teenager. Josh’s second transgression only made him see that he’s a “pretender.”
“After hearing of Josh’s scandal when he was a teenager, I publicly stated that Josh appeared to be a changed man, was walking above reproach, and living out the faith that he professed,” Michael wrote. “I stood in solidarity, encouraging him to use the scandal to build humility and grace. Sadly, he had deceived us all. The name of God has been blasphemed and God is jealous for his name.”
These are such heavy words, and very condemning of Josh, who is currently believed missing after being a no-show for Christian rehab on August 25. It’s also very telling that Jessa shared the post after supporting her brother after the molestation news broke. It seems that she’s decided she’s no longer supporting him after all.
