Whovians, are you ready for this? ‘Doctor Who’ has just confirmed that Alex Kingston is coming back for the 2015 holiday episode!

Alex Kingston, 52, is ready to make a grand return to the world of Doctor Who for their upcoming Christmas episode. The British will appear as her fan-favorite character, River Song, in a special episode set to air on December 25, 2015 only on BBC America. So exciting!

Yes, it’s really happening! River Song is finally returning to Doctor Who, and this time her character is alive. As many Whovians know, the last time the Doctor saw her character… she was dead. When River appears on the Christmas 2015 special, she will very much be living and breathing, reports E! Online.

Here’s a synopsis of the episode, which sounds pretty amazing:

It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveler River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.

Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who — and what could be more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song,” reads an official statement from BBC America. “The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? As ever, with the most complicated relationship in the universe, it’s a matter of time…”

For now, no other cast members for the special have been revealed. Hopefully, even more character surprises are in store for the special episode!
