Meryl Streep is getting the Lifetime treatment– kind of. Christina Applegate recreates some of Meryl’s most iconic roles in this promo for the would-be movie based on her life, and let’s just say Christina doesn’t quite have the Streep touch.

Meryl Streep is regarded as the best actress of all time, nominated for an incredible 19 Oscars, so maybe it’s not the best idea to try and play her. However, Christina Applegate, 43, has boldly accepted the challenge. Christina teamed up with the brilliant minds at Funny Or Die to bring us Meryl, the Lifetime movie about the actress’ life. You need to watch the hilarious (and totally fake) trailer for the dramatic movie!

“From the network that brought you Anna Nicole, The Brittany Murphy Story, Alliyah: The Princess of R&B and Whitney,” the trailer begins, reminding us of some of Lifetime’s finest biopic films to date. “Comes a new portrait of the greatest actress of our time.”

That’s right: Meryl, the dramatic replication of Meryl Streep’s life. However, unlike the aforementioned title stars, apart from the drama she’s brought onscreen, Meryl’s life has been decidedly not dramatic. Therefore, as the trailer’s announcer says, “honestly, we kind of struggled to find dirt on Meryl, so we made things up.”

We get to see Christina play Meryl in all of her greatest hits including AdaptationJulie & Julia, Mama Mia, Kramer Vs. Kramer, Doubt and, of course, The Devil Wears Prada. Meryl’s ubiquitous presence at the Academy Awards is also mocked, as Meryl/Christina sits in her agent’s office and asks with the most sincere anger, “What do you mean I wasn’t nominated?” Of course, the agent was only kidding. “You were,” he assures her with a laugh. “You were. You are always nominated.” Watch the whole hilarious vid below!

What do you guys think, is a Meryl movie actually a good idea? Or would any actress be insane to play the greatest actress of all time?
