California, here I come! With ‘The O.C.’ being transformed into ‘The Unauthorized O.C. Musical’ for one night only on Aug. 30, we knew that some of the cast would have to show up. And that’s exactly what happened.
Welcome to The O.C., bitch! Creator Josh Schwartz, Rachel Bilson, AKA Summer Roberts, and The O.C. producer, Stephanie Savage, all showed up to support the cast of The Unauthorized O.C. Musical, and one of them included one of their own. Autumn Reeser, who played Taylor Townsend on the original show, was on stage portraying the role of Mama bear, Julie Cooper.
Kelly Rowan, AKA Kirsten Cowan as well as the original Julie Cooper, Melinda Clarke were also in the audience, so of course, we’re just left wondering where the heck were Seth, Ryan, Marissa and (most importantly to me) Sandy?! Alright, well we’re so excited to see some of the cast, so I guess we’ll just take what we can get.
While Ben McKenzie has been filming Gotham in New York, we know that if he was in LA, he probably would have been there. He told us last year he’s really into the show still. “Every year I sit through and watch four seasons,” he told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “Bizarre? No.”
Anyway, the musical overall got great reviews and the music we saw thanks to Instagram videos, definitely made us seriously nostalgic for the show, which premiered 12 years ago this year. The cast was also filled with seriously talented people: Tilky Jones as Ryan Atwood, Molly McCook as Marissa Cooper, Brendan Robinson as Seth Cohen, Greer Grammer as Summer Roberts, Drew Seeley as Luke Ward, Betty Who as Holly Fischer, Christine Lakin as Kirsten Cohen, Neil Hopkins as Sandy Cohen and Jarett Wieselman as Josh Schwartz.
Are you excited to see that the stars are supporting the musical? What do you think? Let us know, and catch up on The O.C. by getting the complete series here.
