We’re still trying to pick our jaws up from the floor after watching the Sept. 1 season finale of ‘Scream.’ It was exhilarating, suspenseful and bats*** crazy, which is exactly what we hoped it’d be, but now we have so many questions. Thankfully, the killer spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY and answered most of them!
Is [SPOILER] really dead? The killer’s identity was finally revealed on the Sept. 1 season finale of Scream, and even though this person was shot — twice! — we’re having a hard time believing that that’s the last time we’ll see this person. This is Scream, after all. Is there a chance the killer will return in Season 2? What’s Audrey’s (Bax Taylor-Klaus) connection to the killer? And who was wearing the mask when Will (Connor Weil) was attacked in the abandoned car dealership? The killer spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY and answered all of these questions and more! Check it out.
In the finale 10 minutes of the season finale, Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire) revealed herself as the killer, meaning she’s also Emma’s (Willa Fitzgerald) half-sister and Brandon James’ daughter. She and Emma had an epic fight, which included stabbing, punching, and a heroic rescue from Audrey. In the end, Piper was shot twice and her body sunk to the bottom of the same lake her father allegedly died in. We were satisfied with the ending, but of course, we had some burning questions for Amelia, and she happily answered all of them!
HollywoodLife: How soon did you know you were the killer?
Amelia Rose Blaire: I found out on my last day of shooting episode 6, right before I did the scene with Will in the abandoned car dealership. So I didn’t find out until halfway through the season. And I definitely did not see it coming at all.
From the beginning, the only thing that I knew about Piper was that she was very much an enigma, so I created a backstory that she had to have some kind of connection to Brandon James. Um, what is was… I didn’t think that I was going to end up being related to him. But I knew there was going to be some kind of sympathy that would bring her to Lakewood to cover this particular crime. Like why would she come? There has to be something personal there.
HL: Before you found out, who did you think was the killer?
ARB: Kieran. I was super suspicious of him. He just shows up out of nowhere and all of a sudden he’s head over heels for Emma. Just like drawn to her from the beginning. And then he has some sort of story about his parents dying. I was super suspicious of him. And Audrey as well because she had so much motivation from the very beginning. The first thing she ever says to Piper was, “[Nina] was a stone cold bitch who got what she deserved.” So she put up some red flags around herself. I never though Piper would be the one behind the mask.
HL: Is Piper really dead?
ARB: I think she is, but I have no idea. I don’t know what is in store for Season 2, but I would love the opportunity to get to come back and play with this different side to her. She had these two radically different sides to her personality and throughout the whole season, I was essentially wearing a mask, which is interesting because she was talking about revealing masks and she was wearing one the whole time — literally and figuratively. So it’d be cool to get to peek and play with this other side of her, but I have no idea what’s in store next.
HL: What can you tease about Piper’s connection to Audrey?
ARB: I can’t really tease that much because I don’t know what I would be teasing. It’s all kind of up in the air.
HL: If you were the killer, then who attacked Will when you were with him in the abandoned car dealership?
ARB: There’s definitely a second killer. And who knows? There might end up being a third and a fourth killer. It is a TV show, so I’m sure you’re just going to see some wild balls thrown into the court. I’m very excited to see what they end up revealing about Piper and Audrey’s connection because there’s something dark and twisted there, but what that it I don’t know.
