Hold onto your broomsticks for this one — today, Sept. 1, is the day that Harry Potter’s son James would have started at Hogwarts! ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling wished him good luck on his first day, along with sharing an amazing update about his adventure!
Time flies whether you’re a wizard or a muggle! J.K. Rowling, 50, reminded us all on Sept. 1 that it’s the day that Harry Potter sends his and Ginny’s son, James Sirius Potter, off to Hogwarts. Harry Potter fans are ecstatic for James’ new adventure, and J.K. even revealed that James is following in Harry’s footsteps!
All aboard Platform 9 3/4 because James is off to Hogwarts, as J.K. so kindly reminded the Potterverse. “I’m in Edinburgh, so could somebody at King’s Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me? He’s starting at Hogwarts today. #BackToHogwarts,” J.K. tweeted. She later shared another very exciting update with her fans. “Have just heard that James S Potter has been Sorted (to nobody’s surprise) into Gryffindor. Teddy Lupin (Head Boy, Hufflepuff) disappointed.” Way to go, Teddy, for making it to Head Boy of the house!
This is such a huge milestone for Harry Potter fans. It’s been over 18 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published in the U.K, and about eight years since the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was first released. The film, which starred the beloved Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, was cast 15 years ago, and we will never forget.
Just because this moment is bittersweet in the Potterverse, there’s still a ton of exciting Harry Potter spin-offs to look forward to! For one, Eddie Redmayne will be taking on the lead role of fictitious author Newt Scamandar in the spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. In addition, J.K. announced that there will be a new play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which will open in London in 2016.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Did you remember it was James’ first day at Hogwarts? Let us know!
