Taylor Swift’s squad is growing day by day, but one famous face who WON’T be joining is Miley Cyrus. The “Dooo It” singer totally slammed Tay’s crew of gal pals in a new interview, and said she doesn’t like to be friends with other famous people because they’re not ‘real.’
Shade has been thrown — again! Taylor Swift, 25, showed up to the Video Music Awards on Aug. 30 with a whole crew of her girlfriends, but one person who probably wasn’t too impressed is host Miley Cyrus. In a newly-released interview done a week before the show, the 22-year-old says she has no desire to join Tay’s A-list crew. BURN! “I’m not trying to be in the squad,” Miley told the New York Times, point blank. “None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives. Because I’m inspired by them.”
WHOA! The “Wrecking Ball” singer — whose album, Bangerz, you can buy here — politely congratulated Taylor when she won Video of the Year at the VMAs, but based on these comments, we wouldn’t be surprised if she was really seething inside when the “Bad Blood” singer accepted her Moonman with nine friends in tow! It’s no secret that Miley likes to march to the beat of her own drum, but was it really necessary to call out Taylor in the process?
This interview was released after the show, so there was no real concern about a Taylor/Miley run-in at the show. However, Miley did another Q&A before the VMAs that landed her in some HOT water with another attendee, Nicki Minaj. Reflecting on the rapper’s brief Twitter beef with Taylor, Miley told the New York Post, “What I read, it sounded very Nicki Minaj. If you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite.”
OH SNAP. The “Anaconda” singer caught wind of the comments, and used her VMAs acceptance speech to call Miley out. “Now, back to this b—-, that had a LOT to say about me the other day in the press,” she spewed, angrily. “Miley — what’s good?!” The cameras eventually cut Nicki off, but she could be seen making hang gestures and mouthing more profanities at the show host, who continued on with her gig and added, “We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s—, Nicki.”
Originally, many viewers speculated that this whole thing was planned for ratings, but an eyewitness claims Miley was NOT pleased afterward. “Miley was pissed,” E! News reports. “She stormed backstage cursing and yelling about it as she headed toward the dressing room.” OH SNAP! Will Taylor respond next?!
