Chris Christie is in some hot water! The 2016 presidential candidate revealed his immigration plan to a group of potential voters on Aug. 29, suggesting they be tracked like FedEx packages. That didn’t go over so well for Chris — see some of the Twitter backlash below!
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey has already received plenty of criticism for his weight, but he has a whole new batch of haters thanks to his comments from a recent campaign event. Chris discussed his take on the immigration issue in America, which involves a tracking system similar to FedEx’s. Unfortunately for Chris, he’s already pretty far back in the race, and his FedEx comments aren’t gaining him any more voters!
Immigration has become one of the biggest issues in the Republican race for the 2016 presidential ballot, so as a Republican candidate himself, Chris shared his plan. “I’m going to have Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx, come work for the government for three months,” he said. “Just come for three months to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and show these people.” His idea was first received by several laughs. But as he continued, listeners realized he was completely serious, and suddenly it wasn’t so funny.
“You go online and at any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. Yet we let people come into this country with visas, and the minute they come in, we lose track of them,” he said. “We need to have a system that tracks you from the moment you come in and then when your time is up. However long your visa is, then we go get you and tap you on the shoulder and say, ‘Excuse me, it’s time to go.'”
Chris was almost immediately hit with criticism following his FedEx proposal, as people accused him of comparing immigrants to packages. Although Chris has since defended himself stating that is not what he meant, people are certainly taking it that way — especially on Twitter!
Christie wants to track immigrants like a FedEx package. Can the GOP get any more repugnant? http://t.co/oP0Bg0K87B

Chris Christie is even losing the Republican contest to come up with the most sadistic things to do to immigrants. — LOLGOP (@LOLGOP) August 29, 2015
What do YOU think of Chris’ FedEx immigrant plan, HollywoodLifers?
