Grab your tissues now. The final season of ‘Awkward’ is kicking off tonight, Aug. 31, and it’s going to make you feel all the feels. talked EXCLUSIVELY to Jillian Rose Reed and Greer Grammer, who teased all sorts of final season scoop!

Senior year is coming to a close for the Awkward kids, and the show is coming to an end after five seasons. The final season starts Aug. 31, and we have lots of hopes for our beloved characters. Jillian Rose Reed and Greer Grammer spilled spoilers to EXCLUSIVELY about fan favorite relationships, the time jump, saying goodbye and more!

As with most MTV shows, Awkward will be split into season 5A and 5B. The first half of the season will feature “senior year, senior pranks, the prom and all the things you would expect to see from a senior year of high school!” Greer told us. Catch up on ‘Awkward’ season 4 HERE!

For season 5B, the show will be taking a page from Pretty Little Liars and One Tree Hill with a time jump. “Then the second half of the season we will be jumping ahead and seeing where the gang is a year later, which is crazy because the show has been in high school for so long!” Jillian revealed.

We are so excited to see how that pans out. We’re not sure how we’re going to handle the kids not walking the halls of Palos Hills anymore! Both Greer and Jillian guaranteed that romance is in the air in the final season. “There are definitely romances that people will want to happen. Whether they are new or revisited, we can’t say much more!” Greer dished.

Well, one romance we really want to see rekindled is Matty and Jenna’s. They were each other’s first loves and have never truly gotten over each other. However, as we all know, the thought of life after high school can change everything. “The romances take interesting turns with the ending of high school,” Jillian told us.

It’s going to be bittersweet seeing these characters closer big chapters in their lives, but Jillian assured us that the final season does every single character justice. Plus, a “lot of possibilities” arise!

“It was a beautifully written ending to this season, and it is very open-ended. We can’t really say that it’s going to be over because we don’t actually know, so we are hoping that it’s not! If it is, it ends amazing. If it isn’t, I think it lends itself to quite a lot of possibilities!” More Awkward after Awkward? Yes, please!

Awkward airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

HollywoodLifers, are you upset about Awkward ending? Do you think Matty and Jenna are endgame? Where do you think the gang will be after high school? Let us know!
