Miley Cyrus is no stranger to controversy, and the cover star of Elle UK’s October issue has a lot to say. For the magazine’s issue dedicated to gender and sexuality, Miley discussed the specifics of her own identity; a brave and proud move for the VMAs host.
Miley Cyrus, 21, has spoken before about her sexuality; though she’s had several high-profile relationships with men, she’s dated women as well. In an interview with Elle UK, Miley opened up about the fact that she’s attracted to all people — and made what that means clearer.
Miley’s interview with Elle UK spanned everything from her VMAs hosting gig, to her extensive charity work, and activism supporting feminism and LGBT rights. But the most interesting part of the interview is when Miley discusses her own sexuality. The “Wrecking Ball” singer has before described herself as Queer, but here defines it more specifically.
“I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual,” Miley said. “But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.” Good for Miley for speaking out about her identity! For those who aren’t familiar, pansexuality is “a sexual orientation characterized by a potential aesthetic attraction, romantic love and/or sexual desire for anybody, including people who do not fit into the gender binary of male/female implied by bisexual attraction,” according to the Queer Dictionary.
Aside from the comment about her sexuality, there’s more to take from that quote — what exactly happened to her relationship with Stella Maxwell? The couple had been getting hot and heavy for quite some time, laying on the PDA pretty thick, but Miley has confirmed that she’s definitely flying solo right now! Perhaps they weren’t actually very serious after all?
HollywoodLifers, will you be reading Miley’s full interview when it comes out?
