‘What Do You Mean?’ Is A Jam: Why Justin Bieber’s New Single Is A Perfect Comeback

The stakes were super high for Justin Bieber’s big comeback single ‘What Do You Mean?’ and now that the song has finally dropped, it’s clear that the Biebs totally came through. The single is light, catchy and a perfect way for Justin to let everyone know he means business.

The countdown alone for Justin Bieber‘s “What Do You Mean?” had fans losing their minds with anticipation. Well, bright and early on Aug. 28, the 21-year-old dropped the song in full– and it was better than had even imagined. It’s an absolutely perfect cut for these dog days of summer, laid back and almost melancholic, while still dripping with signature Bieber emotion.

The way Justin debuted the song was on point as well, opting to release it at first not with a full blown video, but a lyric video featuring skateboarders Ryan Sheckler and Chelsea Castro. Seeing the two board through Los Angeles will make you want to pretend you’re back in high school and living up the final week of summer as best as you can before the looming school year once again begins.

However, the very best part about “What Do You Mean?” is that there is so much more to come! Bieber isn’t going to release his first single in over three years without an accompanying music video– and this one is going to be sick. Justin did us a huge solid by posting a preview of the vid on Instagram, and it is super sexy and a little bit dangerous. Actually, if this preview is any indication, the video will be more like a short and totally dramatic film, and I am here for it. The whole thing will debut following the Aug. 30 Video Music Awards, during which JB is set to perform.

Anyways, while we wait for those major moments, you’ll find me sitting here, listening to “What Do You Mean?” for roughly the next 48 hours. It’s basically Bieber-Christmas (Biebmas?) up in here, and it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Do you love “What Do You Mean?” as much as I do? Or is it too laid back for your liking?
