Look out, Usain Bolt! While he celebrated winning the 200m gold medal at the World Athletics Championships on Aug. 27, Usain was run over by a cameraman on a runaway Segway! Oh no! Click to watch.
Yikes! Is Usain Bolt okay? The 29-year-old sprinter was basking in the glory of another gold medal win when a cameraman crashed his party — by crashing into him! The “World’s Fastest Man” wasn’t fast enough as he was completely walloped by a Segway. Usain was knocked off his feet by the out-of-control vehicle. Ouch!
Usain just didn’t see the cameraman coming. He was too busy enjoying his 200m Gold Medal victory at the World Athletics Championships on Aug. 27, reports The Guardian. Usain’s attention was towards the crowd gathered in Beijing, China, so he didn’t see the camera guy lose control of his Segway. Uh-oh! The vehicle hit a bump and went straight for Usain!
Pow! Thankfully, Usain seemed more startled than hurt. He landed on his butt and quickly rolled back to his feet. The collision might have actually hurt the rider more than the sprinter. The camera guy fell on how lower back and his camera came crashing down on his head! Luckily, both him and Usain were able to get up and they seemed to be a-okay afterward.
“It didn’t actually hit me in my Achilles,” Usain said, after the wipe-out. “It hit me in my calf area. It’s alright, I will get over it.” Usain also assured sports fans that he would be involved in the 4×100 relay. “I am just going to get it massaged, ice it up a bit and I should be fine.” Phew!
Usain actually had a sense of humor about the accident. He openly joked that he was going to blame this accident on his rival, Justin Gatlin, who Usain had just beaten for the World Athletics 200m gold medal! “The rumor I’m trying to start right now is that Justin paid him off,” Usain said. Hilarious!
What do you think about the runaway Segway, HollywoodLifers? It was scary for a moment there, right?
