Uh oh. There might be some awkward tension at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30. Awards show host Miley Cyrus just threw some major shade at Nicki Minaj for griping about her Video Of The Year nominee snub. See what she said here!
Miley Cyrus, who is hosting the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30, just addressed Nicki Minaj‘s famous outburst, following the announcement of this year’s nominees. And not only did Miley say Nicki was “not very polite” when handling the whole Taylor Swift-VMA nomination controversy, but she said the “Anaconda” singer was super selfish. Find out why!
“I didn’t follow it,” Miley told The New York Times before mentioning she didn’t like how Nicki’s approach came from “anger.”
“You know what I always say? Not that this is jealousy, but jealousy does the opposite of what you want it to—that’s a yoga mantra. People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way. If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it,” she added.
“And it’s not anger like, ‘Guys, I’m frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.’ You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA’…If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type,'” she also said.
But that’s not all. Miley went on to say, “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite.” Miley also sided with MTV, saying she doesn’t think they snubbed Nicki on purpose.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, when the Video Of The Year nominees were announced, Nicki claimed she was snubbed because she wasn’t a thin white girl. It seemed like a direct jab at Taylor, who was the only female to be nominated in the category this year. Nicki, however, later said her outburst had nothing to do with Taylor and more to do with race.
