This is getting real ugly real quick. Derrick Rose, whose ex-girlfriend has accused him of gang rape, is responding to the claims, saying it’s merely an attempt to take his money.
Chicago Bulls players, Derrick Rose, 26, is reportedly being sued by an ex-girlfriend, who will only identify herself as Jane Doe. The woman, who claims to have dated the NBA star from 2011-13, shockingly alleges that Derrick, along with two of his friends, drugged and then raped her. On Aug. 27, Derrick (with the assistance of a lawyer) denied the claims, saying that it was his ex’s efforts to obtain his money.
The lawsuit is “an attempt to shakedown a highly respected and successful athlete,” said Derrick’s lawyer, Lisa Cohen. She then added that Derrick and the accuser were in a “non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship for over two years,” saying that the two never had any issues until the anonymous women started receiving advice from lawyers advising her to take Derrick to the proverbial cleaners.
Lisa also stated that this is the third lawyer whom the unidentified woman has hired for this case. “We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated,” Lisa said. “This lawsuit is outrageous.”
True or not, the claims are extremely disturbing. Jane Doe alleges that Derrick had been “pressuring her to masturbate in front of him, allow him to have sex with her friends, and engage in group sex with strangers,” according to TMZ. She refused to oblige with his requests, however, she continued to date the basketball player until August, 2013. At this time, Derrick and two of his friends, Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton (who is Derrick’s personal manager), reportedly invited the woman to his Beverly Hills home, in which she claims they drugged her, with the intention of raping her.
