So sad. Reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were doing a routine live interview on the morning of Aug. 26 when a man shot and killed them at the scene. Since Adam was filming when the horrifying incident took place, the camera panned to a quick shot of the terrifying shooter. See it here.

Adam and Alison were conducting their interview at Bridgewater Plaza when the mystery man opened fire. In the tragic video, we can hear alarming screams, as the sounds of the attack are captured on the audio. The 27-year-old cameraman dropped his camera in the chaos after the first gunshot.

So far, the shooter is at large, but a the footage from Adam’s camera allowed for a quick viewing of the man responsible. Although his face is barely visible, we can see he was dressed completely in black, and the gun in his hand is clearly visible. No motive for the attack is known at this time.

“We are investigating an incident at Smith Mountain Lake,” the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, who confirmed Adam and Alison’s death, tells So far, the TV station has not commented on the tragic losses. Vicki Gardner, who Alison was interviewing at the time of the shooting, was shot in the back and rushed into surgery.

UPDATE: Suspect Vester Flanagan’s family has issued statements regarding the shooting.
