The authorities are in pursuit of the shooter who killed Alison Parker and Adam Ward on Aug. 26. The FBI and the ATF are hunting down the murderer, who is believed to be a ‘disgruntled employee’ of WDBJ — the same Virginia news station where Alison and Adam worked!
The world is still reeling from the brutal murder of Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, two members of Virginia’s WDBJ. Adam and Alison’s shocking deaths were captured during a live broadcast, leaving onlookers stunned. Though the gunman fled the scene, the FBI and the ATF are reportedly in pursuit of the killer.
Agents from the FBI and the Bureau of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the Aug. 26 murder, reports CNN. They reportedly have a name and a license plate number of the suspect. Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe reportedly told WTOP that the gunman is believed to be a “disgruntled employee” of WDBJ, that he fled on I64 and that his arrest was “imminent.” Authorities are looking for Vester Lee Flanagan, who is not officially a suspect but what investigators are calling a “person of interest.” Vester also went by Bryce Williams while he reportedly worked as a journalist at WDBJ.
Alison and Adam were interviewing Smith Mountain Lake Chamber Director Vicki Gardner at Bridgewater Plaza near Moneta Virginia when the gunman opened fire. Vicki was shot in the back and was reportedly in surgery for her wounds. Sadly, Adam and Alison were killed on the scene.
The graphic footage captured the fatal shooting. While Alison was talking to Vicki, shots began to ring out. Adam fell while Alison and Vicki ran. The camera was able to capture the gunman’s face, giving the authorities a vital clue in what we hope will be his quick arrest.
This killing is so heartbreaking. Just to watch two innocent people get shot is chilling, but to know that Adam and Alison’s loved ones witnessed their death is devastating. Adam’s finance, Melissa Ott, was in the WDBJ control room during the shooting and Alison’s boyfriend was WDBJ news anchor, Chris Hurst. Chris spoke out in grief at the loss of his love, saying that she was the most radiant woman he ever met.
We will keep you updated with any further developments on this story, HollywoodLifers. Our thoughts and sympathies continue to go out to Alison and Adam’s friends, family and coworkers during this tragedy.
