This is a pretty big accusation coming from Zedd. One Direction’s latest single ‘Drag Me Down’ is doing pretty well on the charts, but the DJ seems to think the boyband copied a melody from his song ‘True Colors.’ Click to listen to the comparison of the two!
One Direction fans won’t be too happy when they hear about this. Zedd, 25, is calling out the British boyband for ripping a part of his song. The Russian-German musician took it upon himself to compare a specific part from “Drag Me Down” to his own song, “True Colors.” The results are pretty uncanny!
It’s a simple three-part melody that coincidentally sounds the same, but Zedd is making it a big deal. The 25-year-old DJ recorded the vocals from his song, “True Colors,” that sang, “all my life,” and compared it to the same line in One Direction’s “Drag Me Down.” Instead of blatantly calling out the four-part group for copying his song, he captioned the Instagram video with a simple, ” 😧” shocked emoji. Take a gander at the comparison below.

Zedd’s song and album “True Colors” was released in May 2015 while One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” was dropped at the end of July. Even though both of those melodies sound very similar to each other, it could just be a coincidence. It’s definitely not enough for Zedd to call out 1D for ripping off his track. Besides, having Zedd call out One Direction for possibly copying his melody is the least of Directioner’s worries.
One Direction To Take Extended Hiatus
Although fans are freaking out over One Direction’s break, Niall Horan, 21, Liam Payne, 21, and Louis Tomlinson, 23, reassured their fans they’ll be back better than ever. The British cuties definitely need a break after working tirelessly for five years straight. “Ok so Lots of rumors going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned breakat some point next year,” Niall tweeted, along with: “Don’t worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve ! Can’t wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform.” Well, that might not be exactly what we wanted to hear, but it sounds like One Direction has every intention of reuniting after their break.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you hear the similarities between “True Colors” and “Drag Me Down?”
